Quinn Tries To Veto Sunshine Commission
by Paul Fuentes in

Fresh off a close election, Governor elect Pat Quinn tried to veto legislation that would create the "Sunshine" Commission.  The Sunshine Commision, consisting of 2 legislators from each party and 4 citizen members, would review every state program for effectiveness, efficiency, and duplicity.  Quinn tried to change the legislation via amendatory veto, wherein he tried to make the commission consist of 4 of his appointees.  Quinn's amendatory veto was overriden by more than two thirds of the General Assembly.  All Republicans voted for overriding Quinn, while 22 Democrats sided with Quinn.

Once again, a candidate who runs on a campaign boasting new transparecy and elimination of government waste fails to live up to promise the first chance he gets.  The following is the link to the full article in Illinois Review:  http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/illinoisreview/2010/11/sunshine-commission-likely-to-break-through-legislative-clouds.html#more
